Am I A Suitable Candidate for Lips Embroidery?

Lip blush embroidery may not be suitable for everyone. Specifically, if you have a history of cold sores and frequently experience cold sores, lip embroidery might not be ideal for you. The procedure involves needle injections on the lips, which can potentially trigger a cold sore outbreak if the dormant virus activates due to stress or physical trauma.

If you have concerns about your suitability for the procedure, we recommend consulting with a medical professional or discussing your condition with our artists before proceeding.

What Should I Avoid Before Having Lips Embroidery?

● Avoid taking blood thinning medication or supplements two days before your session. Consult with your doctor for further advice!
● Exfoliate and moisturise your lips daily for five days before the procedure.
● Wear hydrating lip balms and avoid lipsticks five days before the treatment.
● Have a 2-week gap between your last BTX/Filler appointment and your lip embroidery session. Please note that BTX/Fillers may affect your lip position when the effect wears off.

What to Expect After Lips Embroidery at Jo Artysan

After your lip blush embroidery session, your lips will naturally heal over time. Here’s what you can expect:

● Initial Appearance: Immediately after the procedure, your lips may appear darker than the final desired shade. Once the dry, flaky skin peels off, the colour will look lighter than the colour on the first day; this is a normal part of the healing process. Over the next 2-4 weeks, the colour will gradually resurface and settle into the beautiful, vibrant tone you selected.

Potential Side Effects

While the procedure is generally safe, you may experience some temporary side effects, including:

● Swelling and Bruising: Mild swelling and bruising around the lip area are common and usually subside within a few days.
● Dry and Flaky Lips: Your lips might become dry and flaky as they heal. Keeping them moisturised with recommended lip balm can help alleviate this.

DO’s

● Use a straw when drinking, and avoid greasy, spicy and hot food and drinks if your lips feel tender for the first few days.
● Keep your lips clean, dry and moisturised for the first five days.
● Compress and stretch your lips after the treatment to prevent swelling.
● Use lip balm or lipstick with SPF protection.
● Use water-based or pigment-safe lip products.
● See a doctor if a cold sore were to happen.

DONT’s

● Bite, scratch or touch lips as it could cause infection, irritation or pigment loss.
● Exercise, go to saunas, or swim for one week to avoid wetting your lips.
● Prolong exposure of blush-embroidered lips under the sun.
● Put lip products like lipstick and lip gloss on your lips for two weeks to avoid cross-contamination and irritation.
● Pick on scabs. Allow them to flake off by themselves.
● Do facial treatments or use abrasive lip scrubs and harsh exfoliants for the next one week to avoid cross-contamination, irritation, and premature fading.
● Use anti-ageing creams, acids or retinol and chemical peels on or close to the lips.

How long is the downtime after the microblading treatment?

We are pleased to tell you that there is no downtime! It will take 7 to 14 days for your brows to heal, during which this period, you will notice some scabbing which is completely normal in the process. Will my brows look thick and dark after the treatment?

Many fear that they will look like 'Crayon Shinchan' after the treatment. Rest assured that we will not let you walk out looking like that! How dark or natural your brows will look depends on the colour and shape that is selected with approval by you :)
Are your equipments brand new and sterilized?

Yes. We use brand new needles and equipment for every new treatment and all equipments are thoroughly sterilized before the next customer. We uphold the standardization of strict hygiene and sanitation at Jo Artysan, so feel assured that you will be well taken care of from the start til even post-treatment.
Will my eyebrow embroidery slowly turn red or green after sometime?

At Jo Artysan, we are 100% committed to using very high quality colour pigments and this assures you that the colour will not fade into unsightly shades of green, blueish-grey or red.
Can I do eyebrow embroidery when I am pregnant?

We do not recommend expectant ladies to do embroidery treatments as there are no studies on how the contents in pigments used in microblading might affect the fetus. Additionally, pregnancy hormones may hinder the healing process and results may not be ideal. However you can always come back after you have delivered and we will be happy to transform you into a beautiful mummy!
I have done eyebrow embroidery before, can I do a new treatment?"

We recommend you sending a picture of your current brows to us so that we can assess it for you. If your current embroidery is already faded or thinning, we will be able to give a new treament. However, if it is very dark or thick, our beauty artists will need to assess the condition thoroughly prior to securing a treatment for you.
Can i exercise right after the treatment?

We highly recommend to refrain from exercising the first 4 days after the treatment. This is to prevent sweat and bacteria from entering the treatment area and keeping it clean. However, if you feel the need to exercise, we recommend you to only engage in light and gentle exercises.
